The Beaver House was established in 1964 by Bill Cronberg and Guyal Anderson. It was run as a shoe shop for many years until they decided to turn it into a bait shop. Bill bought out his partner in 1970 when Tyson was only 5 years old and Tyson proceeded to help around the shop and make lures. By age 9 he was running the till and selling ice. Tyson’s brother invented the popular “Beaver Flick” lure, and Tyson helped make it famous when he issued a money-back guarantee on the lure. The Beaver House has touches of fishing history and makes one feel they are in a museum. Tyson offers fishing lures, tackle, rods and reels, camping gear, clothing and even a kids section. There is something for everyone! So next time you’re in Grand Marais swing on by and come say hi to Ty! He would love to see you and you might be lucky enough to hear a joke or two.
